In 1992 he graduated in Hadith studies from Al-Azhar University (Egypt). Erg\u00fcn has lived in Germany since 1993, where he first served as imam of the Merkez Mosque in Frankfurt. The following year he became imam and board member of the Rhine-Neckar-Saar regional association. From 2002 to 2011 Erg\u00fcn chaired the IGMG regional association of Cologne, and from 2003 he was also head of Hajj for the IGMG. In the same year Kemal Erg\u00fcn completed a distance-learning degree at Anadolu University. His master&#8217;s thesis dealt with Germany&#8217;s migration and integration policy. On 14 May 2011 Erg\u00fcn was elected Chairman of the Islamic Community Mill\u00ee G\u00f6r\u00fc\u015f (IGMG). He is married and the father of two children.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"igmg-vs\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/vorstand_ali-mete-324x400.jpg\" alt=\"Ali Mete\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<div><small>Secretary General<\/small><\/p>\n<h2>Ali Mete<\/h2>\n<p>Born in Kelkit, G\u00fcm\u00fc\u015fhane (Turkey) in 1982, Ali Mete grew up in Siegen, where he was head of youth and education at the local IGMG community. Mete, who is also active in interreligious dialogue and public relations, studied religious studies in Frankfurt and has been managing director of PLURAL Publications since 2012. From 2019 he was responsible for publications as deputy head of association communications. Ali Mete was elected Secretary General at the 13th General Assembly on 18 September 2022. Mete is married, the father of three children and speaks Turkish, German and English.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"igmg-vs\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/vorstand_murat-ileri-324x400.jpg\" alt=\"Murat Ileri\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<div><small>Head of the Community Development Department<\/small><\/p>\n<h2>Murat Ileri<\/h2>\n<p>Murat Ileri was born in Tatvan, Bitlis (Turkey) in 1970. In 1994 he completed his studies in Islamic law at Al-Azhar University and came to Germany in the same year, where he first served as imam in Oberhausen and head of the Irshad department of the Ruhr A regional association. In 1999 he also took over the management of the Hajj and Umrah organisation. From September 2001 to May 2011 Ileri chaired the Northern Ruhr regional association. Since May 2011 Murat Ileri has been Deputy Chairman of the IGMG and head of the Community Development Department. Murat Ileri, who was a member of the IGMG Council of Scholars from 1997 to 2011, is the father of four children.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"igmg-vs\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/vorstand_abdulhalim-inam-324x400.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Abdulhalim Inam\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<div><small>Head of the Education Department<\/small><\/p>\n<h2>Dr. Abdulhalim Inam<\/h2>\n<p>Abdulhalim Inam was born in the Turkish city of Zonguldak in 1971. After completing his business studies at Anadolu University in 2000, Inam served as deputy chairman and head of education of the Islamic Federation of Belgium and as director of the Ibn Sina Institute. In 2007 he completed his master&#8217;s degree in philosophy and religious education at the Faculty of Theology of Sel\u00e7uk University. In 2013 he received his doctorate from the theological faculties of Anadolu and Necmettin Erbakan University. Since 2014 he has headed the IGMG Education Department and is also a lecturer at the Dean&#8217;s Office of the Faculty of Theology at Karab\u00fck University. Abdulhalim Inam is married and the father of three children.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"igmg-vs\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/vorstand_celil-yalinkilic-324x400.jpg\" alt=\"Celil Yal\u0131nk\u0131l\u0131\u00e7\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<div><small>Head of the Irshad Department<\/small><\/p>\n<h2>Celil Yal\u0131nk\u0131l\u0131\u00e7<\/h2>\n<p>Celil Yal\u0131nk\u0131l\u0131\u00e7 has been Deputy Chairman of the IGMG and head of the Irshad Department (religious guidance) since 2011. Yal\u0131nk\u0131l\u0131\u00e7 was born in G\u00fcm\u00fc\u015fhane (Turkey) in 1968. After completing primary, secondary and high school in Istanbul, he graduated in Hadith studies from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Al-Azhar University (Egypt) in 1992. In the same year he came to Germany. From 1993 to 2011 he served as imam and chairman of the Fatih Mosque in Mannheim. Yal\u0131nk\u0131l\u0131\u00e7 is married and the father of two children.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"igmg-vs\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/vorstand_mikayil-demir-324x400.jpg\" alt=\"Mikayil Demir\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<div><small>Head of the Finance Department<\/small><\/p>\n<h2>Mikayil Demir<\/h2>\n<p>Mikayil Demir was born in Bremerhaven in 1980, where he attended school until his Abitur. He then studied teaching at the University of Bremen. From 2000 to 2004 he was head of the youth organisation of the IGMG Fatih Mosque in Bremerhaven. He then took on various roles in education in the IGMG region of Cologne and was also head of the youth organisation of the IGMG Fatih Mosque in Cologne. After that he worked for about a year as a manager at Hasene International. Mikayil Demir then headed the office of the IGMG Chairman for eight years. He is married and the father of three children.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"igmg-vs\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/vorstand_bekir-altas-324x400.jpg\" alt=\"Bekir Alta\u015f\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<div><small>Deputy Chairman<\/small><\/p>\n<h2>Bekir Alta\u015f<\/h2>\n<p>Bekir Alta\u015f was born in Duisburg in 1981 and studied law in Bremen and Bochum. For many years he held various positions within the IGMG. At the 8th General Assembly of the IGMG on 14 June 2015 he was elected Secretary General and held this office until October 2022. He contributed in particular in the legal field to the community&#8217;s work against discrimination. At the Islamic Council for the Federal Republic of Germany he was the contact person for questions of state-church law. From 2012 to 2015 Alta\u015f was managing director of the Federation Against Injustice and Racism e. V. (FAIR international) in Cologne. Alta\u015f is married and the father of five children.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"igmg-vs\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/vorstand_handan-yazici-324x400.jpg\" alt=\"Aynur Handan Yaz\u0131c\u0131\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<div><small>Head of the Women&#8217;s Department<\/small><\/p>\n<h2>Aynur Handan Yaz\u0131c\u0131<\/h2>\n<p>Aynur Handan Yaz\u0131c\u0131 was born in Stadtallendorf in 1975. In 1995 she completed her training as a kindergarten teacher at the K\u00e4the-Kollwitz-Schule in Marburg. She also studied social pedagogy and family counselling in Marburg. In 2004 she qualified as a religious education teacher. In 1989 Yaz\u0131c\u0131 was head of the young women&#8217;s organisation of the IGMG local branch in Stadtallendorf, where she headed the women&#8217;s organisation from 1995. In 2006 she moved to the Hesse regional association as head of education of the women&#8217;s organisation, which she led as chair from 2009. From 2012 Aynur Handan Yaz\u0131c\u0131 worked as head of education of the women&#8217;s organisation at the IGMG headquarters and later as head of social services. Aynur Handan Yaz\u0131c\u0131, who is married and the mother of two children, was appointed chair of the women&#8217;s organisation on 12 August 2017.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"igmg-vs\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/vorstand_zehra-karatas-324x400.jpg\" alt=\"Zehra Karata\u015f\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<div><small>Head of the Young Women&#8217;s Organisation<\/small><\/p>\n<h2>Zehra Karata\u015f<\/h2>\n<p>Zehra Karata\u015f was born in Duisburg in 1985, where she completed her entire schooling. She then studied architecture at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and gained professional experience in interior design. At the IGMG Hac\u0131 Bayram community in Duisburg she was active in the secondary-school section of the young women&#8217;s organisation. She then became head of organisational development of the young women&#8217;s organisation in the D\u00fcsseldorf regional association and led the regional young women&#8217;s organisation from 2011 to 2014. From 2014 to 2021 Karata\u015f was head of organisational development of the young women&#8217;s organisation. Since June 2021 she has been chair of the IGMG Young Women&#8217;s Organisation.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"igmg-vs\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/vorstand_furkanl-kahraman-324x400.jpg\" alt=\"Furkan Kahraman\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<div><small>Head of the Youth Organisation<\/small><\/p>\n<h2>Furkan Kahraman<\/h2>\n<p>Furkan Kahraman was born in M\u00fchlacker in 1993. He held various positions in the youth organisation of the IGMG community in M\u00fchlacker and also served as its youth leader. After finishing school in Germany, he went to Istanbul in 2012 to study and graduated from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vak\u0131f University in 2018. During his studies he was deputy chairman and head of organisational development of UN\u0130AD. In October 2018 he went to England to continue his education. From 2019 to 2020 he headed the Irshad department of the England regional association and worked there in various fields. In February 2020 he became head of the secondary-school section of the IGMG Youth Organisation.
