Ali Mete, Secretary General of the Islamic Community Mill\u00ee G\u00f6r\u00fc\u015f (IGMG), issued a statement ahead of the EU foreign ministers\u2019 meeting on June 8, which will address the reform of the EU asylum system.<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cThe mere consideration of expediting the removal of asylum seekers from outside the EU is perceived as a significant regression in terms of safeguarding human rights protection.<\/b><\/p>\n
The introduction of such a practice would be tantamount to a humanitarian catastrophe,\u201d remarked Mete. He also stated<\/b>:<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the Islamic Community Mill\u00ee G\u00f6r\u00fc\u015f, we are deeply concerned about the direction that both the EU and Germany are taking with regards to the refugee policy.<\/p>\n
Shifting asylum procedures to outside the EU borders would represent a significant regression in terms of human rights.<\/p>\n
We strongly urge the Federal Government to uphold fundamental human rights, such as the right to seek asylum, without undermining them.<\/p>\n
In our opinion, the debate over exempting families and children from the accelerated process is only an attempt to mask a practice that violates human rights as a humanitarian cause. <\/span><\/p>\n As the Islamic Community Mill\u00ee G\u00f6r\u00fc\u015f, we support an asylum policy that is founded on principles of humanity, responsibility, and aligns with our conscience.<\/p>\n It is undeniable that both Germany and Europe have played a role in contributing to the root causes of migration worldwide.
