Dear Brothers and Sisters!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Human beings, who have been honoured as the noblest of creation and are social by nature, face their greatest tests within society. Allah (swt) says: “Mankind was [once] one community. Then Allah sent the prophets as bearers of good news and warners, and with them He sent down the Scripture in truth to judge between people regarding that over which they differed.\u201d[1]<\/sup><\/a><\/strong> Our noble religion, Islam, is not just a collection of individual acts of worship. Rather, it is the foundation of a profound civilisation that seeks the peace, prosperity and well-being of humanity. This civilisation has been shaped by the guidance of divine revelation and is founded upon values such as justice, mercy, knowledge, wisdom and noble character. Islamic civilisation embraces the human being in both material and spiritual dimensions, in the struggle to nurture and develop each person in the most complete and beautiful manner.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dear Brothers and Sisters!<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the heart of Islamic civilisation lies justice. Justice means giving every person their rightful due, refraining from oppression and living with truth and integrity. Allah (swt) commands justice and forbids wrongdoing in the verse recited at every Friday khutba: “Indeed, Allah commands justice, excellence, and generosity to relatives, and He forbids immorality, wrongdoing, and transgression. He admonishes you so that you may take heed.\u201d[2]<\/sup><\/a> <\/strong>When justice exists in a society, it brings with it trust, security and peace.<\/span><\/p>\n

For this reason, a Muslim must never abandon justice under any circumstances and should never hesitate to speak the truth, even if it is against their own interests.<\/p>\n

Dear Jama\u2019ah!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mercy is one of the foundational pillars of Islamic civilisation. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy.\u201d[3]<\/strong><\/sup><\/a><\/em> With these words, he firmly instilled the importance of mercy in both our hearts and our minds. Mercy means caring for the orphan, supporting the needy, honouring the elderly and treating all living beings with compassion. Unless our hearts are filled with mercy, it is impossible to build a civilisation in its truest sense. Islam is also a civilisation of knowledge. The fact that the very first revelation began with the command, “Read!”<\/strong>, clearly shows the valued place of knowledge in our religion. Throughout history, Muslims devoted themselves to the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom, leaving behind a legacy of scholarship that illuminated humanity. Today, our responsibility is to embrace knowledge, continue learning and put what we learn into practice.<\/p>\n

Dear Brothers and Sisters!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Noble character is the essence of Islamic civilisation. Values such as truthfulness, honesty, patience, tolerance and humility improve the individual and strengthen society. Rasulullah (saw) said: “I was sent only to perfect noble character.\u201d[4]<\/strong><\/a><\/em> Therefore, we should reflect the Prophetic character in both our words and our actions. Let us never forget that Islamic civilisation becomes visible only when these values are lived, upheld and passed on to others. Let us strive to be Muslims who uphold justice, act with mercy, pursue knowledge and embody noble character, Muslims in whom the values of Islamic civilisation truly come to life.<\/p>\n

May our Allah (swt) keep us steadfast upon this path. Ameen!<\/p>\n
