After the Kassel criminal court had delivered a sentence in the murder case of district president Walter Lübcke, IGMG secretary general Bekir Altaş lauded the judgement as “appropriate”.

“Not only did the culprit murder a courageous man who dedicated himself to the fight against right wing extremism. His heinous crime was an attack on all of us, on democratic order, and on our society as a whole”, Altaş said.

The secretary general urged politicians to investigate into the pending questions concerning a worrisome connection between Walter Lübcke’s murderer and the NSU complex. “The trial has revealed serious negligence of the security agencies which must be thoroughly dealt with.”
