Friday Sermons

The Chastity of Maryam

Maryam (as) is a woman worthy of respect, who gave birth to Isa (as), whom Islam accepts as a servant and prophet, as "fatherless". Allah (swt) praised her for being faithful, obedient and patient in the face of pressure, and presented her as an exemplary Muslim.

Rows During Prayer

One of the biggest worships of Islam is prayer. The five daily prayers are like columns that hold a building. Performing the prayer in congregation is a part of performing the prayer. The Quran mentions: “Be watchful over the Prayers, and over praying with the utmost excellence, and stand before Allah as would utterly obedient servants.”[1]

Manners of the Khutba

The Messenger of Allah (saw) did not lead any Friday prayer without giving a khutba and said, "Pray as you have seen me pray. ”[1] If the khutba was not one of the conditions of the Friday prayer, the Messenger of Allah (saw) would have sometimes neglected the khutba to indicate this. However, no such thing has been conveyed. Therefore, the Friday prayer is not valid without the khutba.

Khutba: Obeying the Limits Set by Allah

For us to reach the happiness of this world and the hereafter, Allah (swt) set certain limitations. Within the drawn borders, there are principles, rules, orders and prohibitions related to our personal and social life. These are called "Hudûdullâh" in the Qur'an. We have been informed that if we obey Hudûdullâh, we will attain the honour of gaining success in this world and the hereafter, and that there is a humiliating torment when we cross the line.

Khutba: Arqam ibn Abi al-Arqam: Founder of the House of Remembrance

It was a difficult time in Makkah during the early stages of Islam. At first, the Prophet (saw) would make his invitation to Islam in secret, and he would only convey Islam to those around him whom he was sure of. As Arqam ibn Abi al-Arqam listened to the blessed invitation of the Prophet (saw), he got excited and approved every word of it. He accepted this invitation of the Prophet at the very first meeting and became one of the young people who believed in him. Upon the increasing pressures of the Makkan polytheists, the Prophet (saw) needed a place where he could meet with Meccans.

Khutba: Being an Ideal Father

Allah (swt), who created every living thing on earth as male and female, has also created humans, the most precious of creatures, as male and female. He made them loving and compassionate towards each other, gave them different characteristics and different responsibilities.

Khutba: The season of the believers – Winter

Allah (swt) has created the universe and everything in it in a certain order and balance. There is no deficiency in any of the creations. Everything created remembers Allah (swt) in a constant state of movement. The life of a human being is constantly active, just as in other creatures. At the stage of human life, there is birth and childhood like spring, which is the first of the seasons, youth like summer, maturity like autumn, and finally old age and death like winter.

Khutba: Infaq as the Guarantee of Our Future

n our religion, spending is a necessity of worshiping Allah (swt) properly and purifying one's soul and property in the way of Allah (swt). The concept of infaq, which means spending, is a key part of Islamic civilisation. Undoubtedly, spending has a positive psychological effect on people.

Khutba: Business Ethics

Our religion, Islam, commands us to be ethical in business as well as in all areas of life. Allah (swt) says, “And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with an even [i.e., honest] balance. That is the best [way] and best in result.”[6] In trade, it is necessary to observe the rights of people and not to transgress them. Let's not waste our hereafter with the ambition of making profit.

Khutba: Being in Accordance with the Quran

he Qur'an addresses all humanity. It encourages goodness and discourages bad morals. The Qur'an is a cure for spiritual diseases such as blasphemy, hypocrisy and delusion. It appeals to the hearts and tries to cure spiritual disorders and brings benefits that will enable people to cleanse their inner world. On the other hand, the Qur'an is a guide that shows believers the right path. People who believe in it, listen to its advice, apply it, obey its orders and avoid what it prohibits will find the right way.

Khutba: Taking Our Prophet As An Example

Allah (swt) mentions in the Quran; “There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often.”[1] Prophet Muhammad (saw) is an eternal "role model" for all generations until the Day of Judgment. His good morals, way of living life and his attitude towards everything are an example for all humanity that exceeds time and space.

Khutba: Mawlid al-Nabi

Mawlid al-Nabi, which we will revive today, is the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (saw). In the centuries-old tradition of Muslims, the day when our Prophet (saw) honoured the world was seen as an occasion to commemorate him and remember his sunnah. Mawlid al-Nabi is celebrated with different events in many parts of the Islamic world. On this special day, the Messenger of Allah (saw) is remembered by his ummah with respect and affection, and efforts are made to understand and apply his Sunnah.
