Khutba: Being in Accordance with the Quran

20. October 2022
Tesbih Yeşil Siyah

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Allah (swt) has always treated His servants with his mercy and sent revelations to the prophets so that they do not stray from the right path and ultimately reach Paradise. The last prophet Muhammad (saw) was sent down with the Qur’an, the final message of which will be preserved until the Day of Judgment. Allah (swt) mentions in the Quran, “And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.”[1] The Quran has been the guidance for the Ummah for 1400 years and will continue to be until the Day of Judgment.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Allah (swt) says in the Quran; “O mankind, there has come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers. Say, “In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy – in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate.””[2] The Qur’an addresses all humanity. It encourages goodness and discourages bad morals. The Qur’an is a cure for spiritual diseases such as blasphemy, hypocrisy and delusion. It appeals to the hearts and tries to cure spiritual disorders and brings benefits that will enable people to cleanse their inner world. On the other hand, the Qur’an is a guide that shows believers the right path. People who believe in it, listen to its advice, apply it, obey its orders and avoid what it prohibits will find the right way. The Qur’an is a source of mercy for believers. Believers who live the way Allah (swt) wants and mature morally become happy people whom Allah (swt) loves, has mercy on, and deems worthy of eternal blessings.

Dear Jama’ah!

Rasulullah (saw) has said, “Read the Qur’an. Because the Qur’an will come as an intercessor for those who read it on the Day of Judgment.”[3] We should always be in agreement with the Qur’an and read it. Of course, the purpose of reading the Qur’an is to understand its meaning. To lead a good, true and beautiful life, we must understand the word of Allah (swt) and reflect that meaning in our lives. We must form our lifestyle, our daily practices, and the attitude we will take in the face of events, as Allah (swt) desires for us. As Muslims, we must make a great effort to have the Qur’an read and understood by our generations in the geographies where we live as a minority. Rasulullah (saw) has said, “The best of you is the one who learns and teaches the Qur’an.”[4] In order to achieve this status, Qur’an education in our mosques continue for years in the best quality.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Islamic Community Milli Gorus is organising the 34th European Qur’an Recitation Competition this year. The competition will take place tomorrow, Saturday, October 22, in Bielefeld, Germany, as always, with great enthusiasm. Thousands of Qur’an lovers from all over Europe will attend, which young reciters will recite with their beautiful voices. Our entire community, male or female, is invited to this beautiful event, which will start at 14:00. I conclude my sermon with the hope of being together on this beautiful day.

May Allah (swt) make us one of his servants who are in accordance with the Qur’an and follow the straight path drawn by the Qur’an. Ameen.
