Living With the Quran

26. March 2026
Tesbih Yeşil Siyah

Dear Brothers and Sisters!
The Qur’an, our book sent by Allah (swt) as a source of guidance and admonition for all humanity, constantly invites us to what is good and beneficial. It also warns us against what is evil, ugly and harmful. When it is reflected upon with the intention of finding the right path and seeking the truth, its miraculous words soften even the hardest hearts and light darkened souls. Indeed, Allah (swt) states: “O mankind! There has come to you an instruction from your Lord, a healing for what is in the hearts, and a guidance and mercy for the believers.”[1]

Dear Brothers and Sisters!
Allah (swt) has made the Qur’an a source of healing for us and a guide to true direction. Just as our bodies find remedy for their sicknesses through medicine, our distressed souls and hearts can only find healing through the light of the Qur’an. It is a divine guide that gives meaning to our lives, continually renews our hope and reminds us of our duty of servitude. It teaches us to be patient, to hold ourselves accountable, to restrain our desires, and to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters. The Qur’an reminds us of the eternal Hereafter while we pursue this temporary worldly life. The faith of those who hold firmly to it increases. Indeed, in the noble verse it is stated: “The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts tremble; and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely.”[2]

Dear Jama’ah
The Qur’an is the word Allah (swt), who created everything from nothing. Those who believe in it and follow it attain happiness in both worlds. Learning and living by the Qur’an is the most virtuous and beneficial deed a Muslim can perform. Our beloved Prophet (saw) said: “The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.”[3] Therefore, if we do not know how to read the Qur’an, we should learn it as soon as possible. Let us not live our lives, granted to us by Allah (swt), deprived of the Qur’an. Especially, we should strive to introduce our children and youth to the beautiful words of the Qur’an, to teach it to them, and to instil love for it in their hearts. Indeed, raising our children with faith, good character and virtues such as truthfulness and honesty is one of the greatest responsibilities of every believing parent. They are the light of our eyes, the joy of our hearts and a trust given to us by Allah (swt). For this reason, from the very first day, we recite the call to prayer in their ears and do our best to raise them with an awareness of faith and worship, keeping them away from sin as much as possible.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!
We have left behind Ramadan, the month of the Qur’an. However, let us strengthen the firm connection we have built with the Qur’an throughout the remaining eleven months. Let us strive to live by the Qur’an and to become living embodiments of it. May Allah (swt) grant us the awareness and consciousness to keep this spirit alive and to spread it throughout all aspects of our lives. May Allah bless us and our generations with the ability to properly read and understand His Book. May He never deprive us of the light of the Qur’an. Ameen.
